Sample Itineraries for Day Trips

Photo Walks

Explore Leh and its environs with one of our photo guides on a 3 hour photo walk and workshop. Learn about history, architecture, Tibetan & Ladakhi traditions, and the ancient silk route. Get stunning landscape, architecture, and portraits in our morning and evening walks.

Start at 7 AM from our office on Chanspa road and make your way to the old city and up to the Leh Palace. On the way down, check out the small shops that are getting started in the winding alleys. Bakers pulling fresh bread out, jewelers starting their day working on traditional turquoise and silver jewellery. We’ll walk through the old city and make our way to the nukkad, the corner of the market where people gather for tea and warm bread. Then we’ll make our way back, doing more street photography along the way.

Get an introduction to astro-photography and low-light photography in our 2 hour night time walk. This includes a short drive outside the city and away from the lights to a nearby monastery such as Thiksey or Stakna.

White Water Rafting

Ladakh has some incredible rafting. There aren’t many places where you can raft in class 3+ and 2+ rapids while being above 10,000 feet above sea level. The Zanskar gorge towers above the river, making for a memorable experience.

Gather at Voygr’s office at 8 AM and set out for the Zanskar river. We’ll drive about two and a half hours to get to our starting point, get suited up and get in the rafts. Your guide will lead you down the river for an enjoyable 3 hour rafting trip. The trip ends as the Zanskar merges with the mighty Indus at Nimo. Grab some lunch, and then we’ll head back to Leh, about an hour and a half away.

Sublime landscapes, meandering rivers, and short vegetation make Ladakh an ideal place to fly fish. Brown trout, rainbow trout, and snow trout (schiziothorax) inhabit various streams and rivers.

We’ll get out of town early and get a head-start on the day around 5 AM. Depending on the type of fishing you want to do, we’ll either head to a small stream or to the Indus. It may take between an hour and two hours to get to our spot. Then we’ll fish till the afternoon, changing spots, trying out different bait, and enjoying ourselves.

Head back to Leh around 3 PM.
