Introduction to the Tiger Safari

Ranthambhore National Park is one of India’s finest conservation areas and an icon of tiger conservation. An ideal location for tiger safari, it borders the town of Sawai Madhopur in the state of Rajasthan, it offers spectacular access to tigers, leopards, sloth bears, jackals, striped hyenas, desert fox, palm civets, crocodiles, and a strong prey base of spotted deer, Indian gazelle, sambhar, and nilgai (Asia’s largest antelope.)

Sawai Madhopur was built in the 18th century, but within Ranthambhore National Park lies the 10th century fortress of Ranthambhore. It was an important stop on the ancient trade routes that connected Asia. The great fortress is a World Heritage Site. The many associated ruins scattered through the national park provide spectacular backdrops for tiger portraits to lucky photographers. Truly the best tiger safari.

Much of the area of Ranthambhore National Park were the former hunting grounds of the Maharajas of Jaipur. Today, it offers one of India’s best locations for spotting tigers in the wild. Its iconic scrub-land and dhok forests provide a stunning setting to view Indian wildlife. Ranthambhore National Park sits between the ancient Aravalli Range and the Vindhya hills. It is a broad area of jungle scrub. The terrain is diverse with rocky ridges and cliffs, and plateaus with lakes. Over 300 species of plants grow in the area, dominated by dry deciduous forest. A haven for tigers safaris.

Tiger Safari in Ranthambhore National Park

Tiger Safari
DAY 1 : New Delhi

1.Arrive in New Delhi. You will be received at the airport and transferred to the Roseate House Hotel.

Tiger Safari
DAY 2 : Ranthambhore National Park

2.Transfer to New Delhi airport with your leader and the rest of the group and take a flight to Jaipur. From Jaipur, transfer by road (3 hours) to Sawai Madhopur, the town that borders Ranthambhore National Park. In Sawai Madhopur, you’ll stay at the beautiful Nahargarh Palace. A free evening to rest from your day of travel.

Tiger Safari
DAY 3, 4, 5 : Ranthambhore National Park

3,4,5.Explore Ranthambhore National Park on tiger safari in search of Bengal tigers, leopards, sloth bears, and a variety of other species that call the park home. Voygr will arrange for the exclusive full-day permits that give you access to all zones of the Ranthambhore National Park during normal game-drive hours, and zones 6-10 during “lunch” hours.  The day starts at dawn and you’ll be one of the first vehicles in the park. We use THE best drivers and tracker in Ranthambhore and they know exactly what photographers need to get great images. Be amazed at their driving skills and at their prediction on where the tiger is headed next so you can place yourself in the right place and not end up with butt-shots of a tiger walking away from you.

Breakfast goes with you in the morning and lunch meets you at the park, and your tracking team will find a bit of shade and a nice spot for you to have your meals.

The advantage of a full day all access permit is that you can go to any zone. Normal permits are restricted to three hours per visit, either in the morning or the evening, and one randomly assigned zone out of 10. Over 150 vehicles are issued permits for the normal morning and evening safaris, while just 10 or fewer are granted all day access. This means that you’ll have incredible privileged access for when tigers cross zones as you”ll be allowed to move with the tiger, but the majority of other vehicles wont.

Each evening, the park closes at sunset. Head back to your beautiful hotel once the safari is over and relax.

Tiger Safari

    Why Book With Voygr?

    Actually Local. At Every Destination.

We don’t subcontract our tours to “local” companies. We are the local company. At Voygr, our expeditions aren’t planned by “specialists” that have visited a destination once on a familiarization trip, 4 years ago. Our experts live and work in the regions where we take our guests.

    Empowering Remote Communities

Our singular mission when starting Voygr almost a decade ago was to put more money into remote communities. Controlling our own operations means that we can own our own infrastructure, hire our own local employees with exclusive contracts and ensure that your dollars actually end up where you’re traveling to instead of lining pockets in NYC or London.

    Conservation is Key

Environmental conservation and protecting endangered species are core values. Voygr commits 20% of our annual profits to the High Asia Habitat Fund. In addition, we support several environmental causes. Expeditions with Voygr are not just carbon neutral – they are Carbon Negative.
