Where to See Snow Leopards

Snow leopards live across 12 countries.

Head to the mountains of High Asia!

Hemis National Park

Located in Ladakh, in North India. Hemis National Park is an incredible place to see snow leopards in the wild.

Sarychat-Ertash State Reserve

In the Tian-Shan mountains of South-Eastern Kygryzstan, this reserve has a high density snow leopard population.

Haar Us Nuur National Park

In Western Mongolia, the Altai Range is great snow leopard habitat. Mongolia has the world's 2nd highest population.

Make Sure you Have Expert Spotters

You'll need expert spotters + a Swarovski scope. You won't find a ghost cat without them!

Best Seasons?

October through April. October is best for Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia. November through April is ideal for Ladakh. Peak winter is best for sightings, but remote camping gets difficult.

Pack Correctly!

Depending on your destination, you might need to pick-up some gear you don't have.

We know the snow leopard is vulnerable, but the snow leopard knows nothing of this. The snow leopard only knows it has been born to walk on mountaintops.
